Recently, the Ming Hing Waterworks 2026 High-Tech Launch Event was successfully held in Hong Kong, bringing together representatives from the Hong Kong Water Supplies Department, Ming Hing Waterworks, Hanmeihao Technology, Easy-Sight and other organizations.
Focusing on engineering safety and technological innovation, the event placed people at the heart of infrastructure development and highlighted practical approaches to strengthening public services and urban resilience through advanced water technologies.

The event opened with remarks from the Director of the Hong Kong Water Supplies Department, who expressed his deep concern for the safety and well-being of construction workers.
He introduced the concept and significance of the “Site Mothers Care Program”, emphasizing that the initiative goes beyond conventional construction site safety education. It reflects respect and care for every frontline worker involved in building the city, aiming to raise occupational safety awareness and ensure that workers can go to work safely and return home safely.
This people-oriented approach provides a warm yet solid foundation for Hong Kong’s continued urban development.
Following the opening remarks, Tao Dali, General Manager of Ming Hing Waterworks, and Yuan Xubin, Director of Hanmeihao Technology, delivered keynote speeches respectively, sharing achievements in water technology innovation and experience in developing a strong construction safety culture.
The companies emphasized that protecting people remains the top priority of sustainable development. Through responsible innovation and technology-driven solutions, they are helping build a stronger safety barrier for Hong Kong’s urban infrastructure.
During the technology-sharing session, Liu Zhiguo, Vice General Manager of Easy-Sight, delivered a technical presentation focusing on water supply pipeline inspection.
He introduced Easy-Sight’s latest technological achievements and field experience, providing practical technical approaches for improving the inspection, assessment and high-quality maintenance of urban water supply networks.
A dedicated Easy-Sight exhibition area was also set up at the event, showcasing technologies and products for water supply and drainage pipeline inspection as well as trenchless rehabilitation materials.
The Director of the Hong Kong Water Supplies Department and his delegation visited the Easy-Sight booth and watched a live demonstration of the G30 In-Pipe Water Supply Pipeline Inspection Robot operating inside a narrow DN100 pipeline.
The product received strong recognition for its ability to address a long-standing challenge in the industry: the precise inspection of small-diameter urban water supply pipelines.
Behind this interest lies a challenge shared by cities around the world.
Many urban water networks were constructed in the mid-20th century. As the era of large-scale new pipeline construction gradually gives way to asset management and rehabilitation, intelligent and refined management of existing water infrastructure has become increasingly important.
As noted during the event:
“Hong Kong developed early, has a high urban density and complex terrain, so it is facing many infrastructure challenges ahead of other cities. The problems Hong Kong encounters today may be the same problems other cities will face in 10 or 20 years.”
To manage a pipeline network effectively, operators must first be able to see clearly what is happening inside it. And before they can see clearly, inspection equipment must first be able to enter the pipeline.
Small-diameter water supply branches often have limited internal space and numerous bends, making them difficult for conventional inspection equipment to access. As a result, they have long remained a blind spot in detailed pipeline condition assessment.
The G30 was developed specifically to address this challenge. By entering narrow pipelines, it enables operators to clearly identify pipe wall defects, leakage risks and other internal abnormalities that would otherwise be difficult to detect.
Having worked in Hong Kong’s water industry for many years, Ming Hing Waterworks is also actively upgrading its capabilities and transforming toward a more technology-driven water services model.
By introducing intelligent technologies and advanced inspection equipment into pipeline construction and maintenance, the company is steadily strengthening its ability to manage water infrastructure more efficiently.
This pragmatic transformation represents not only an important step forward for the company itself, but also a vivid example of Hong Kong’s water industry moving toward smarter, more precise and more technology-enabled infrastructure management.
The event also marked the beginning of a new partnership, bringing together water industry expertise from Hong Kong and Wuhan.
The story of Ming Hing Waterworks began in 1967. For nearly six decades, the company has been deeply involved in Hong Kong’s water industry, undertaking the maintenance of public water infrastructure and contributing to the continued development of the city’s water network.

The G30 Umbrella-Type In-Pipe Water Supply Pipeline Inspection Robot is a non-destructive inspection and assessment system developed based on acoustic and video imaging technologies.
Its miniaturized probe design enables inspection inside pressurized pipelines as small as DN100.
Using a dedicated insertion device, the inspection unit can be deployed into a water supply pipeline without interrupting the water service. Driven forward by the water flow, the unit travels through the pipeline while collecting inspection data through a high-sensitivity hydrophone, HD camera unit, IMU attitude sensor and other integrated sensing technologies.
The G30 can effectively identify various abnormalities inside water supply pipelines, including:
● Minor leaks
● Pipe damage
● Tuberculation
● Air pockets
● Foreign matter
● Sediment accumulation
● Redundant connections
● Other internal pipeline defects

The X5-HT5 is a new-generation millimeter-level quantitative inspection robot designed to provide intuitive visualization of pipeline parameters and high-precision quantitative analysis.
Its inspection and measurement capabilities include:

The T300L2 is the world’s first multi-configuration tracked inspection robot developed specifically for box culvert inspection.
It is designed to operate across challenging internal environments, including:

● Other complex terrain conditions
