A Quick Guide to Sewer Inspection Robot Cameras

Sewer robot cameras come in various shapes and sizes, tailored to their function and the type of pipes being inspected. At their most basic, these systems include a compact, durable camera, lighting, and a mechanism for entry into pipes or manholes, often supplemented by additional support cameras. They are used to identify issues such as blockages, ruptures, and corrosion within sewer systems.

Design of Sewer Robot Camera Equipment

To inspect pipes effectively, the camera must either enter the pipe or view long distances from the entry point. This is achieved through several designs:

Crawlers

Equipped with wheels or tracks, these robots navigate through sewers, transmitting real-time footage to ground operators. Capable of traversing over 1000 feet, they are ideal for large main sewers. Advanced models feature lateral projection capabilities, deploying a cable-mounted camera into smaller lateral pipes.

Push Rod Cameras

Compact cameras guided through lateral pipes via a flexible cable, capturing inspection footage as they move.

Nozzle Cameras

Integrated into sewer cleaning nozzles, these allow simultaneous pipe cleaning and inspection, streamlining defect identification.

EasySight's X5-HW Pipe CCTV Inspection Robot is designed for large, long-distance drainage pipes with diameters ranging from 800mm to 4000mm, and a single inspection distance of up to 2000 meters. Its main feature is the capability for long-distance inspections, effectively overcoming the limitations of traditional pipe inspection robots. EasySight has meticulously designed robot cameras tailored for sewer environments. With their exceptional performance and powerful functions, they are a reliable assistant in solving your pipe inspection challenges.

Components of Sewer Robot Cameras

Camera

Standard systems include at least one camera, with higher-end models featuring backups or specialized units (e.g., lateral scanners).

Footage is streamed/recorded for ground analysis. Features like HD resolution, fisheye lenses, and pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) enhance detail.

EasySight cameras boast HD PTZ, IP68 waterproofing (10m depth tolerance), and operation in -10°C to 50°C environments, ensuring clarity in harsh conditions.

Lighting

Critical for illuminating dark pipes. Systems should prioritize bright, adjustable, and reliable lighting.

Sensors

Radio transmitters and probes track the robot's position underground, pinpointing blockages or damage via ground signals.

Lasers measure pipe dimensions, bends, and obstacles, while other sensors assess slope, pressure, and temperature.

Importance of Sewer Inspection

Routine inspections—conducted during maintenance, post-cleaning, or in response to blockages/ruptures—prevent untreated sewage leaks that threaten community health. Property owners are advised to schedule regular lateral pipe inspections to avert major issues.
