Pressurized Leak Detection on a DN1200 Water Main
Dec.04,2025
Share:
Challenge:
A suspected leak was reported on a critical DN1200 water main, buried 8 meters deep under a busy urban area. Traditional detection methods were ineffective due to depth and noise constraints, and shutting down the pipeline was not feasible.

Solution:
Easy-Sight G70-U2 CCTV and acoustic inspection system was deployed through a designated access point. This technology operates under full pressure, eliminating service disruption. The sensor platform captured high-definition video and precise acoustic data from inside the pipe, where external noise interference is minimal.

Findings:
During the inspection, a distinct acoustic anomaly was detected at 48 meters, accompanied by visual confirmation of the leak site via live video. The system’s accurate distance logging enabled crews to quickly locate and mark the exact ground position for excavation.

Outcome:
The leak was repaired with minimal excavation, time, and social disruption. The method provided high confidence in leak localization without service interruption and offered valuable insights into the structural condition of the pipeline for future maintenance planning.
