What Are the Methods of Pipeline Repair?

Pipe rehab method - hose lining method repair technology

    (1) Flip impregnated resin hose lining method

This technology uses fiber-reinforced hose or braided hose with impermeable membrane soaked in thermosetting resin as the lining material, and one end of the hose soaked in resin is turned over and fixed at the entrance of the pipe rehabilitation with a clamp, and then water pressure or The air pressure causes the resin-impregnated inner layer of the soft liner to flip out and bond to the inner wall of the old pipe .When the soft lining pipe reaches the end point, hot water or steam can be injected into the pipe to solidify the resin, forming a hard lining with anti-corrosion and anti-seepage functions that is close to the inner wall of the old pipe. The flexibility and internal pressure of the resin tube before curing allows it to fill cracks, span gaps, and go around bends. After the resin has cured, the soft liner forms a new tube with the same shape as the original tube and a slightly smaller inside diameter.

    (2) CIPP pull-in resin lining method

The CIPP pull-in resin lining method is to use a non-woven felt hose with an anti-seepage film. After being fully impregnated with resin, it is pulled into the pipeline to be repaired from the inspection well, and the hose is rounded by water pressure or air pressure and cured. Finally, a firm and smooth new tube is formed to achieve the purpose of repair.Judging from the restoration of old pipes, due to the strong adaptability and reliable quality of this technology, the use of inspection wells can make it possible to keep a shovel of soil immobile, which is truly trenchless and has been widely used in the repair of sewage pipes applications.

Pipe rehab method - U -lined HDPE pipe repair technology

U-lined HDPE pipe repair technology is also commonly known as tight-bonded lining method, the principle is to use HDPE pipes with an outer diameter slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the old pipes, press the HDPE pipes into a U shape by deformation equipment and temporarily bind them to make them The diameter is reduced, and the HDPE pipe is inserted into the old pipe through a tractor, and then opened and restored to the original diameter by using water pressure or gas (steam) pressure and a soft ball, so that the HDPE pipe is pasted on the inner wall of the old pipe. It is closely matched with the old pipeline to form a "pipe-in-pipe" composite structure in which the anti-corrosion performance of the HDPE pipe and the mechanical performance of the original pipeline are combined into one. After the pipeline is repaired and in use, due to the medium pressure in the pipeline, the liner will eventually cling to the inner wall of the original pipeline.

This kind of repair technology is generally applicable to straight and circular pipelines with less serious structural damage, and can be applied to various pipelines with a diameter range of 75 to 2000mm and a pipeline length of about 1000m. This technology has been widely used in the repair of water supply and drainage and other related pipe networks due to its advantages of good hygienic performance, small loss of flow-through section, wide range of deformation and long-distance repair.

Pipe rehab method - short pipe lining method repair technology

The short pipe lining method is to drag the short pipe into the old pipe while welding on site, and finally fill the gap between the old and new pipe with grouting. This repair method is usually applicable when the water flow rate is low.

Pipe rehab method - broken (cracked) pipe repair technology

The broken (cracked) pipe method is to use broken (cracked) pipe equipment to break or split the old pipe from the inside, squeeze the old pipe fragments into the surrounding soil to form pipe holes, and simultaneously pull in the new pipe (same caliber or larger caliber) pipeline update method. This kind of pipeline repair technology can be applied to the renewal of old pipelines of ceramic, unreinforced concrete, asbestos, cement, plastic or cast iron pipes, and the applicable pipe diameter range is 75-2000mm .

Pipe rehab method - spiral winding repair technology

The repair technology of spiral winding method mainly uses the spiral winding method to continuously advance the strip profile through the pressing bayonet to form a new pipe inside the old pipe. The pipeline can work under the condition of water flow (below 30%) . The spiral winding method is currently widely used. The inner wall of the pipe repaired by this technology is smooth, and the water passing capacity is better than that of the concrete pipe before repair. Moreover, the material occupies a small area and is suitable for long-distance pipeline repair.

Pipe rehab method - stainless steel lining repair technology

The stainless steel lining repair technology is to intersperse the lined thin-walled stainless steel pipe inside the old pipeline, or weld the stainless steel plate inside the pipeline in the form of a coil, and form a whole, so as to achieve the purpose of preventing leakage and corrosion, and can also improve the quality of the original pipeline.withstand voltage level. Since the stainless steel lining can prevent corrosion of the inner wall of the pipeline, reduce the roughness of the inner wall of the pipeline, and increase the flow of water, the lined pipeline is safer, lighter, more economical, and has a longer service life, thereby achieving the purpose of repair. Judging from the situation of pipe rehab at home and abroad, this technology has been widely used in sewage pipelines because of its strong adaptability, reliable quality and ability to carry water.
